Cover leaks efficiently

Finding the leak is not that easy but it could be done with the right knowledge. First, shut down the main valve. Check the pipes in your plumbing system which are visible and see which part is getting volumes of water. It simply means that there is leak near that pipe.

Dry up the area first with a towel then use a hose clamp to seal it off. For emergency cases where you don’t have this hose clamp, you could use electrical tape or duct tape to temporarily cover the leak.

Stop leaks with Adhesive

Stopping leaks could also be possible by using epoxy adhesive. Before using this product, make sure that the surface is dry and clean. After the thorough cleaning, apply the epoxy on the area where the leak is located. See to it that the circumference of the epoxy application is bigger than the leak.

This method is possible if the pipe is in a visible area. However when the pipes are buried underground, it would certainly be hard to apply this type of remedy to a leaking pipe. Leaks that are hard to locate are those in the walls, under the floor and ceiling.

Find leaks easily

It would certainly save you a lot if you are able to locate the leaks yourself. There are several equipments that you could utilize and among the most popular are sonic leak detectors and thermal leak detectors.  A sonic detector is used to determine where the leak is through the sound coming out from the leak. On the other hand, the thermal leak detector is done using infrared rays to detect leaks in hard to reach places.

Another easy way to detect a leak on the floor is to walk bare foot. When you sense a wet spot, most likely, that is the location where there is leak. This is one of the best things that you could do especially when you do not have the finances to purchase equipments for detecting leaks.
